Preparing for Translating Knowledge into Practice

At Magcolm Solutions, we believe that application is as valuable as its knowledge. Training is just a beginning; the real challenge is to translate the knowledge into real-world practice. Hence, as part of lesson effectiveness under this module, we employ a structured approach designed to bridge the gap between learning and practice.

In this section, participant will need to enhance their understanding by performing the 3P Self-assessment.

👉🏻 3P Self-Assessment is a structured method which implement the concept of Purpose, Process & Plan, in which participants will need to:

  • Purpose : Identify specific, measurable objectives for applying the knowledge gained from the training. Consider how these objectives align with your professional development and/or organizational objectives
  • Process your own customized SOP  through identification and closure of gaps, step-by-step
  • Plan for an action plan outlining how you will improve to meet your objectives. It will include resources, PIC and timelines to track your own progress

By implementing this method, you can ensure continuous growth and alignment with your desired goals.

Firstly,

Step 1: Where are you now?

👉🏻 Identify gaps: Complete the Home-based Implementation Checklist to check your current compliance with the applicable food safety requirement/standard

Step 2: Discover Your 1st P: Purpose! 🎯

👉🏻 Discover your purpose: Start by clearly defining the purpose of your self-assessment. Ensure that your assessment aligns with personal and/or organizational goals. This helps in maintaining focus and relevance

Step 3: Analyse Your 2nd P: Process! 🔍

👉🏻 Face your fear: In reference to your desired objective above and result of the quiz, list out/ determine your problem/issue and the potential impact/ risk

👉🏻 Prioritization : Refer to the scale scoring matrix and start your assessing process by rating the important & urgency of the issue/problem. The prioritization of action will be based on the score of the matrix

Step 4: Plan Your Next Steps! 🗺️

Root Cause Analysis: Find the potential root cause why the issue happened. Use the concept of 5M below to find your ‘why’:

  • Man: Consider issues related to people (quantity, skills, competency, etc.)
  • Machine: Think about the tools, devices or equipment you had
  • Method: Reflect on the processes/practice you implemented
  • Material: Assess the quality of resources used
  • Measurement: Evaluate how you tracked your progress

Create Your Action Plan: For each goal, outline:

  • Steps to Take: Based on the objective & root cause identified, what actions will you take?
  • Resources Needed: What tools or support do you need?
  • Timeline: When will you complete each step?
